Happy 2010 Everyone! We’ve had a lot of questions recently regarding where to find the most accurate and supportive information on Sensory Processing Disorder, so here are a couple of suggestions:
Visit www.sensoryplanet.com. This is an online community where many families find encouragement. It is run by the host of our Washington SPD-Parent Connections group. I suspect you will find others there who share your experience.
Most importantly, don’t forget Lucy Jane Miller’s groundbreaking Sensational Kids: Hope and Help for Children with Sensory Processing Disorder. Available in paperback, Sensational Kids has been called by reviewers “every parent’s ‘go-to’ book for questions about their child’s sensory development issues.” The book describes and provides strategies for children with the major subtypes of SPD and also details the latest research on SPD. If you order the book after clicking through to amazon.com from this site, the SPD Foundation will receive a portion of your purchase.
You may also want to subscribe to Sensations, the SPD Foundation’s quarterly e-newsletter. Every issue contains strategies for living with sensational kids, research updates, and more. Click Sensations to join our mailing list.
