It may still be miserably cold outside, but we are boiling with excitement at the Foundation. After a long wait for word on our acceptance into the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual – (DSM-5), Sensory Processing Disorder is closer than it has ever been to confirmation. Preliminary Draft Revisions have just been released and we are STILL UNDER CONSIDERATION!
The Sensory Processing Disorder Foundation and its supporters are currently launching a public comment campaign designed to ensure that Sensory Processing Disorder gets the recognition and support it deserves, beginning with inclusion in the next DSM-5.
For this final push, we need a couple minutes of your time before April 20th. You can help us through! The bigger the response and support from the public, the higher our chances are. Please follow this link for more information and to let the DSM know how Sensory Processing Disorder has affected your life.

Sensory processing disorder is a real disorder that affects many people. As a school based occupational therapist I am able to adress the effects of this disorder at school, but parents need the inclusion within DSM-5 so that they can more easily access private services to address sensory functioning outside of the school day. Thank you for your consideration.
