I am so thrilled that there is some headway being made in getting SPD into the DSM. I had never heard of SPD until about October 2009 when my son's teacher and intervention specialist at school informed me they believed he had it. Since October I have been on the long road of learning and understanding the disorder my self and trying to get the right diagnosis and treatment. I call it a blessing in disguise that my son has been recently been identified as having a speech problem and therefor finally qualified for an I.E.P. If not for the speech I may never have been able to get the I.E.P. and my son would only be able to get limited services. I want this for all the children that may not be able to get the much needed PT and OT services in school because it is not in the DSM.
