Dear Friends and Supporters of the SPD Foundation:
Thank you for your many questions and comments related to the American Academy of Pediatrics article on SPD.
I have submitted a response to the AAP article on Sensory Processing Disorder (the validity of the diagnosis) and Sensory Integration therapy (the effectiveness of the intervention). The article has many excellent points. The greatest overall limitation is that the new research literature (since 2000) is not included in the review or conclusions. Please see my letter in full by going to the News Page of our website. The first article under the DSM News section is the article in reference. Click the link and you can read the entire article. The second link is my response.

I have a 3 year old daughter who has been suffering from SPD probably since birth.
In December on 2011 we learn of SPD and knew that Haydem had been suffering from it.
By the grace of God we found Cheryl Platt!
Hayden has come a long way since then. But still suffers severe eating disorde. Her diet is VERY limmited because of the taste, smell and textures. In the past two weeks she has really taken a turn for the worse, even denying the usual foods she has been eating. I fear she is not getting the proper nurishment and she may begin to regress from all the progress made thus far.
I am desperate and at a loss for what to do next!
Where do we go from here?
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated!
We have a fantastic transdisciplinary feeding program at the STAR Center called SOS Feeding Solutions, directed by Dr. Kay Toomey. http://www.starcenter.us/services-sos.html.
