The SOS Approach to Feeding is a transdisciplinary program for assessing and treating feeding difficulties and weight/growth problems in children of all ages, with a special focus on children from 12 months to 5 years old. It integrates posture, sensory, motor, behavioral/learning, medical and nutritional factors to comprehensively evaluate and manage children with feeding/growth problems. This is a prerequisite for attending Advanced Workshops.

Advanced Workshop

This workshop has been designed to further the skills of professionals who have already attended an SOS Approach to Feeding Basic Workshop. The topics covered will delineate special concepts and treatment variations which are helpful for specific populations of feeding problems. The topics will also expand the professionals’ current skill level by giving additional and more refined strategies for making food choices, for how to best adhere to systematic desensitization criteria, for improving growth, and for partnering with parents to achieve a more rapid and thorough carry-over into the home.

Advanced Topics: (1) Feeding the 6 to 16-month old Child, (2) Food Tolerance Decision Making and (3) Working with Children with Severe Developmental Impairments
